Adam Hunt is a freelance sound designer/composer and studio engineer. Having established himself has a guitarist and electroacoustic composer, Adam naturally extended his practice as a studio engineer and sound designer.

Since 2009, Adam has been mentored by Darrin Verhagen, working in collaboration on Porn.Cake (dir. Pamela Rabe), Ophelia Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (Daniel Schlusser) and Syncopation (dir. Stephen Lloyd Helper). Recently, Adam has composed and sound designed for the ABC documentary, Carnival Queen (dir. Amy Gebhardt), Three Questions (dir. Max Milne) and The Burlesque Hour & The Carnival of Mysteries (Finucane & Smith).

As an audio engineer he has worked with many artists including, Carissa Bianca Mellado (The Time of The Assassins, Kiddiepunk Records), Tom Sullivan (MOT & the Family Band, Dozers), Jez P.A. Speelman, Repairs, Hands that Break Hands. His work in the studio plays with spatial acoustics, the tonal qualities of instruments and compositional development. Adam occasionally extends his studio experience to live mixing.

In 2011 Adam in collaboration with Ryan Granger curated Circle Jerk, a What Is Music Festival Event that engineered a 133 loudspeaker acousmatic installation that saw more than 30 sound, video and performance artists twist throughout Revolt Melbourne.

He was the founding member of the ensemble ‘Sundown and/or Last Stand’ working with more than 15 members reflected through several recordings and festival performances. He has also been part of a number of ensembles such as Team Red, Alithia, Neon Radio, Cautionary Tales and EORAMADIC along with regular colloaborations with artists such as Jez PA Speelman (voice & processing), Alister Mew (electronics) and Ben Espinoza (drums).

His works have been presented at venues around Melbourne including West Space, Chapel off Chapel, c3 and Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery. He has performed at festivals including Maitreya, Renaissance, Electundra and Liquid Architecture.

Adam is always keen for new projects and collaborations across all mediums incorporating sound design, composition, performance or engineering.
